History Of Presentations #

Student pairs will each complete one “history of” presentation during the semester.

These 10 minute presentations will showcase some historical information about the production or use of textiles and textile techniques. Past topics have included the history guitar strings, history of denim, history of Navajo mending, etc. The goal is for you to perform some original research on a topic that interests you and, in sharing it with the class, to help us envision topics for our final projects.

Your presentations should include:

• 5-10 slides with text/imagery describing the topic you have researched for the class. This of this as a quick “did you know” teaser kind of presentation, rather than a list of everything you researched.
• at least 3 references to source materials
• one slide that outlines a few of the questions that your research inspired for you and your partner
• a summary of heuristics or qualities people looked to improve with a particular textile or technique that have shaped this history.
